Intended recipients

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland awards travel grants to professional artists, art experts and working groups formed by them.

Purpose

Travel grants are intended for covering foreign travel expenses using the least expense form of public transport and reasonable accommodation costs. Travel grants are not available for daily allowances.

Applications can be made in February, April and August only for trips in the same calendar year. Applications in November are intended for trips in the following year. Applications for trips in the same calendar year can also be made after August, as funds returned from cancelled trips are distributed in December.

Applications must always be made before the trip.

The travel must be related to artistically significant projects or projects that are important from the perspective of the artform.

The applicant should actively represent Finland, for example

• by performing or appearing
• by organising an exhibition
• by giving a presentation at a seminar.

Travel grants are not available for

• travelling to artists residencies
• study trips or familiarisation trips.
   

Amount

The amount of the grant varies from 300 to 5 000 euros.

Eligibility

Factors that may influence the decision include

• the applicant’s prior work experience as an artist
• the significance of the project
• the cost estimate.

If the applicant is a working group

• The application is made in the name of the working group’s contact person.
• Names and personal IDs are provided for the other members of the working group.
• A short description of the artistic activities of all members of the work group is attached to the application.
• Each member of the working group is responsible for how the grant is spent and for providing clarification.

Special requirements

The recipient of the grant is required to

• submit after the end of the grant period a clarification in writing of how the grant funds were spent.

Notification of decision

All applicants shall be notified of the decision within 1 to 2 months of the end of the application period.
