Open calls in autumn 2026: Supplementary artist pensions can be applied for from 1 October to 2 November 2026
A supplementary artist pension may be awarded as recognition of an outstanding contribution to the creative or performing arts and is intended to supplement the artist’s pension security. A supplementary artist pension cannot be awarded if the applicant’s pension income and other regular income exceed the income limit.
From autumn 2026 onwards, supplementary artist pensions can be applied for using the new application system of the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency that is intended specifically for pensions. By postponing the application period by one month, we hope to ensure the user-friendliness and functionality of the new system.
The application system can be accessed from the www.taike.fi website, where the call for applications for supplementary artist pensions will also be published. An online info briefing on applying and using the system will be held on 6 October at 10am. The link to the webinar will be posted on the Taike website.
Decisions on supplementary artist pensions will be delivered to applicants by 30 April 2027. Keva will pay pensions starting at the beginning of 2027 retroactively.
The Finnish Arts and Culture Agency’s other calls for grant and subsidy applications have moved to the Applyforgrants.fi service for government grants. Supplementary artist pensions are not government grants, however, so the pension application system is separate.
Peer review of applications by a Grant Assessment Panel
The artistic activities of applicants will be assessed by experts appointed to a Grant Assessment Panel from the Pool of Experts of the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency. Decisions will be made by the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency.
The Grant Assessment Panels replace the current arts councils. The new structure maintains the principles of peer reviews, the autonomy of art and regional equality.
Note: Numerous simultaneous changes are affecting the government grants awarded by the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency. The peer review structure is being renewed, and new application systems are being introduced. As a result, an exceptionally large number of changes are being made to the forms of support and application periods. All forms of support and application periods for autumn 2026 will be announced by the end of August. We encourage you to actively follow our communications.
