Taike announces third call for applications for COVID-19 support beginning Friday 30 October and ending Wednesday 9 November

The third call for applications for COVID-19 support from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is intended for artists and private traders. The total amount allocated for this support is approximately 7 million euros. The application period ends on Wednesday 9 November at 4:00pm.

The funding provides short-term support for the working conditions and professional employment of professional artists, writers and art journalists, as well as for the art projects of private traders (toiminimi) that employ an artist or artists.

The support is intended for the applicants’ own artistic work, for maintaining their professional skills, or for the artistic activities of private traders in accordance with their working or project plan.

Artists can apply for COVID-19 grants amounting to 4000 euros, which is intended to cover two months of work.

Private traders can apply for state subsidies amounting to either 4000 or 8000 euros. A larger amount of support may be awarded if the project also employs others. Other communities can apply for subsidies from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The application period begins on Friday 30 October and ends on Wednesday 9 November at 4:00pm. All applicants shall receive written notification of the decision by the end of the year. The support must be used by 30 April 2021.

In the seventh supplementary state budget, an additional 23 million euros has been proposed for the culture and arts sector to compensate for loss of income and support the continuation of activities. The supplementary state budget will be delivered to Parliament on Thursday 29 October. Taike shall award the support on condition that Parliament allocates the required appropriations in the supplementary budget. Previous supplementary state budgets have already provided 79.19 million euros in additional funding for the arts and culture sector.
