Taike is an expert agency under the Ministry of Education and Culture. Taike allocates approximately 34 million euros in grants and subsidies each year.
Taike comprises 24 expert bodies. Its arts councils and boards decide on the awarding of grants and prizes and provide expert opinions. The arts councils are appointed by the Central Arts Council.

Taike has approximately 80 employees. Half of these are administrative staff (civil servants) and half are regional artists working on arts promotion projects throughout the country on the basis of fixed-term employment contracts.
Taike has a head office in Helsinki, as well as regional and branch offices.
Taike operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Culture and continues the activities of the Arts Council of Finland, which was founded in 1968.
