Information for recipients of Taike grants or subsidies who are affected by the war in Ukraine

The war in Ukraine is affecting many artists working on grants and subsidies, as well as members of our elected bodies and our staff members. The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) has been monitoring the effects of the situation on artists in Finland and identified the impact of the war also on our own activities.

Taike complies with the policy of the Ministry of Education and Culture, according to which the sanctions and restrictions have been imposed on Russia as a state. The policies focus on supporting Ukraine; they are not directed against Russian people.

If the war or sanctions are affecting work for which you have received support from Taike, please contact the special advisor who signed your decision. In such cases, we will work together to find solutions.

Projects have faced and may continue to face pressure to change. Among regional co-operation organisations, the Nordic Council of Ministers, the Council of the Baltic Sea States, the Barents Euro-Arctic Council and the Northern Dimension Partnership have suspended co-operation with Russia and Belarus. In addition, Taike grants and subsidies are not paid into Russian bank accounts.

European culture ministers have signed a statement strongly condemning Russia's hostilities in Ukraine and expressing their support for Ukrainian artists, journalists and cultural professionals. You can find details about this and other related topics on the Ministry of Education and Culture website by clicking on this link.

Several art and cultural communities in Finland are playing an active role in organising the entry and working conditions of artists. Further information about these actors and networks can be found, for example, from the following links:
