MeetFactoryn ja residenssiohjelman kuvaus englanniksi:

The MeetFactory is an artistic organization based in Prague providing a platform for cultural gems from all around the world. MeetFactory was established with the vision to integrate Prague into international cooperation on the contemporary art scene in Europe and around the world. One of its main projects is its Artist in Residence program, within which it welcomes artists from all over the world and offers a possibility to live and make art in a supportive and creative atmosphere.

MeetFactory constantly runs residencies, exhibitions, theatre performances, film projections, concerts, lectures and open studios of the resident artists. MeetFactory's main focus is on the international Artist in Residence Program.

MeetFactory combines different artistic sectors. Visual artists meet with musicians, performators, drama artists, performance and creative technicians. MeetFactory also offers administrational support and practical help for the residents, as well as space for presenting their works.

MeetFactory is an industrial building next to railway tracks. Total flooring is approx 5000m2. Studios, practices, ateliers and administrative offices comprise total 3500m2. There are a foyer (600m2), a large multifunction hall (450m2), a small multifunction hall (150m2), and a gallery (300m2). The residents can use the MeetFactory gallery, theatre hall and concert hall to publicly exhibit their works. MeetFactory Artist in Residence Program seeks partnership with a Finnish art organization. MeetFactory opens the opportunity for connections between Czech and Finnish artist scenes. The contemporary Finnish art scene is without doubt a very important part of world alternative culture, thus we wish to include Finnish artists in our project.

The Finnish partner is expected to propose 8 - 10 Finnish contemporary artists. The MeetFactory art committee would then make the final selection of 4 artist / artistic group for a stay in the residence. The focus of the resident artists selection will be primarily based on the quality of their creations and artistic merit of their presentation project.

MeetFactory art committee:
Zuzana Blochová - MeetFactory Gallery curator
David Cerný - artist, MeetFactory´s board of directors´ chairman
Tomáš Pospiszyl - critic, curator and art historian

The basic concept of the Artist in Residence Program was inspired by similar successful centers in other important European and American cities. Model examples of exhibitions and resident programs include IASPIS in Stockholm, Künstlerhaus Bethanien and DAAD in Berlin, PS1 in New York or Rote Fabrik in Zürich. These examples are all funded by grants from their own cities.

MeetFactory Artist in Residence Program began already in 2001 at the previous location in Praha Holešovice. However, after the flood in summer 2002 Meetfactory was closed and reopened in Praha Smíchov in 2007. The financial support for MeetFactory Artist in Residence Program has been endowed from Prague City Hall.
