Honorary titles
Particularly distinguished art professionals may be awarded recognition for their work in the form of the title Art Academic or Artist Professor.
The President of Finland awards the title of Art Academic to a distinguished artist nominated by the Arts Council of Finland. At any one time there can be up to 11 art academics. The title is ceremonial, and no salary or grant is paid to the holder of the title.
Particularly distinguished artists may be awarded ten-year grants and the right to use the title of Artist Professor. Some Artist Professor grants are awarded for five year periods.
