State Prize for Illustrations to Matti Pikkujämsä

Illustrator Matti Pikkujämsä (born 1976) has produced illustrations for newspapers, magazines and books. He has also designed textiles for Marimekko, Samuji and Lapuan Kankurit.

His most recent projects include live painting portraits, capturing a live model in the artist’s own characteristic style. The portraits and models can also be viewed on the internet.

The State Prize for Illustrations was awarded to Matti Pikkujämsä by the National Council for Visual Arts. The prize award ceremony hosted by Minister of Education and Culture Sanni Grahn-Laasonen took place on 2 December in Helsinki. The EUR 13,500 state prize is financed from lottery funds.
