State Prize for Photographic Art to Sanna Kannisto

Sanna Kannisto (born 1974) is an internationally renowned photographic artist who has developed a very unique style of visual expression. Her works combine nature photography, key issues of photographic art and science-based ways of displaying nature.

Kannisto’s works have been seen in numerous exhibitions in Finland and abroad. She has also produced several important photographic books, including Fieldwork published by the respected US publishing house Aperture in 2011.

The State Prize for Photographic Art was awarded to Sanna Kannisto by the National Council for Visual Arts. The prize award ceremony hosted by Minister of Education and Culture Sanni Grahn-Laasonen took place on 2 December in Helsinki. The EUR 13,500 state prize is financed from lottery funds.
