State Prize for Visual Arts to Vesa-Pekka Rannikko

Vesa-Pekka Rannikko (born 1968) is a versatile artist who achieves constant renewal by using elements from sculpture, painting and moving images. His works combine conceptuality with visually interesting and fascinating solutions, adding a firm and surprising touch to his art.

Rannikko’s works have been exhibited widely both in Finland and abroad. In 2011 he represented Finland at the 54th Venice Biennale. His next private exhibition will be at Forum Box in Helsinki in spring 2016.

The State Prize for Visual Arts was awarded to Vesa-Pekka Rannikko by the National Council for Visual Arts. The prize award ceremony hosted by Minister of Education and Culture Sanni Grahn-Laasonen took place on 2 December in Helsinki. The EUR 13,500 state prize is financed from lottery funds.
