Paula Tuovinen begins five-year term as Director of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland

Paula Tuovinen, MA, has begun her five-year term as the new Director of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) today on 1 June 2018. Tuovinen joins Taike from the University of the Arts Helsinki, where she served as Vice Rector.

Nomination of candidates for arts councils underway

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland requests candidates for national and regional arts councils to be nominated by 31 May. The Central Arts Council shall appoint the members for the 2019-20 term in the autumn.

Taike’s online services continue to be affected by the disruption that we reported on 4 April. Our online services are operating, but at reduced capacity. If you are applying for an artist grant, we strongly recommend that you submit your application well before the extended deadline at 4:00pm on Monday 9 April.

Artists at Risk residence programme received #movingart prize

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) has awarded its #movingart theme year prize to the Artists at Risk residence programme. The amount awarded is 5000 euros. Taike Director Minna Sirnö presented the award on Friday 8 December in Helsinki.

Subsidies for festivals and cultural journals available from Taike – application period for regional communities has been brought forward

This autumn’s calls for applications will begin at the end of September. Communities throughout Finland should apply for subsidies in the autumn, as there will not be a separate call for applications in the spring. For the first time, Taike will also be awarding subsidies for festivals and cultural journals.

Application period for Taike grants and subsidies begins on 1 October

Changes have been made to this autumn’s calls for applications. For the first time, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) will award three-year operational subsidies for the performing arts. The application period for special subsidies for children’s culture has been moved from spring to autumn. Take has also made changes to how some artforms are categorised.

Finnish foundations and ministry provide millions in emergency aid for cultural sector in distress

A number of large Finnish foundations, the Ministry of Education and Culture, and Arts Promotion Centre Finland are working together to grant swift assistance to arts and culture professionals who have been hard hit by the coronavirus outbreak. Funding totalling approximately EUR 1.5 million will be apportioned during April via the Arts Promotion Centre (Taike). Foundations will also grant significant sums in aid through their own channels.
