Kaikuja / Ekon / Echoes

In spring 2018, we started a media art pilot project as a collaboration between the Arts Promotion Centre Finland and Helsinki’s Central Library
Oodi. The pilot grew into a five-year collaboration that touches on many dimensions and has invited a large number of artists and partners from the art industry to join us in this journey.

Kaisa Rönkkö appointed as Director of Arts Promotion Centre Finland

Minister of Science and Culture Petri Honkonen has appointed CEO, Master of Music Kaisa Rönkkö as Director of the Arts Promotion Centre (Taike) for the term 1 August 2023–31 July 2028.

Application period for Taike grants and subsidies begins on 3 October

The application period for project grants for artists and working groups begins on 3 October and ends on 8 November 2022. The application period for subsidies for communities begins on 3 October and ends on 1 November 2022. This year’s calls for applications include three-year festival subsidies for the first time and subsidies for cultural activities in sparsely populated areas for the second time.

Taike researches and supports the occupational wellbeing of artists

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) has launched a work guidance pilot programme in five locations. The pilot will investigate the effects of work guidance on the occupational wellbeing of artists over a six-month follow-up period. The occupational wellbeing of artists is also being studied in this year’s Arts and Culture Barometer, the questionnaire for which has just been released.

Taike and Oulu Cultural Foundation announce Filmiapaja project to support audiovisual productions

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and Oulu Cultural Foundation are launching the Filmiapaja project in 2023 to bring together scriptwriters, writers, audiovisual professionals and financiers. The new project will enable the creation of new productions and collaboration networks. Filmiapaja is part of the upcoming Oulu2026 cultural programme.

The works of art for the dialogue cards on cultural diversity and sustainable development developed by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and the Ministry of Education and Culture were selected from 140 proposals.

Taike distributes 34 million euros in seventh round of COVID-19 support

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) distributed 30.4 million euros in COVID-19 grants and 3.6 million euros in COVID-19 subsidies in the seventh round of COVID-19 support at the beginning of this year. The latest support was directed at professional artists and other professionals in the culture and creative sectors, including technical or production entrepreneurs within the creative industries ecosystem. Altogether, grants and subsidies were awarded to 7215 applicants.

Application period for Taike grants begins on 1 October

Changes have been made to calls for applications for grants. Grants for mobility are being offered for the last time; in future, support for internationalisation and foreign travel can be applied for in the form of project grants. As a result of the change, applications will be reviewed within individual arts councils. Changes have also been made regarding applications for grants for multidisciplinary art projects.

Application period for Taike subsidies for communities begins on 1 October

This year, three-year operational subsidies can be applied for within all artforms, whereas in previous years they have been offered only to performing arts communities.
