State grant for art procurements in accordance with the principle “1% of construction costs for art” – application period begins on 2 June

The grant is intended for communities such as municipalities, municipal federations, companies, foundations and associations that procure works of art for construction projects in accordance with the principle “1% of construction costs for art”. Altogether 380,000 euros will be allocated.

Central Arts Council specifies national arts councils – nomination of candidates begins

Seven national arts councils will be responsible for distributing national grants, subsidies and awards in 2015-16 in FInland. Each national arts council will have 9 to 12 members.

Central Arts Council appoints members to arts councils

The Central Arts Council of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland has appointed 74 art experts for the seven national arts councils. In addition, 27 members have been appointed for the 14 subcommittees responsible for preparing peer reviews within each field of the arts, while 112 members have been appointed for the 13 regional arts councils.

That’s art! - Come and realise a project in which the miracle of art is present

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland and its expert body, the Central Arts Council, will award a special grant for planning and implementing a campaign that enhances the visibility, appreciation and role of art in society. The campaign is to be realised using social media and possibly other media channels, and it must be carried out by means of art.

Income from artistic work on the decline in most fields of the arts – income level of top earners has fallen since 2000

Grants are the most importance source of income for nearly one in ten Finnish artists. The role and importance of the State in awarding grants is on the decline, whereas private foundations and funds are becoming more important. The amount of State support has not increased in step with the growing size of the artist community.
