On Tuesday 7 October 2025, arts and culture professionals from the Nordic region, the Baltics and across Europe gathered at Oulu City Hall to attend the Nordic Diversity Connections in Arts and Culture Seminar. The event addressed contemporary issues of cultural diversity, inclusion and equality in the arts and culture sector.

Alexander Stubb, President of the Republic of Finland, has awarded the title of Art Academic to architect Mona Schalin. Schalin is an expert in building conservation, renovation and the protection of the built cultural environment. Her most notable restoration and renovation projects include the National Pensions Institute apartment building area, the Urho Kekkonen Museum Tamminiemi, the Serpentine House in Helsinki, and several of the buildings at the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress.

The system of peer reviews for the arts will be renewed on 1 July 2026, and the arts councils that have thus far made grant decisions will be discontinued. These grants are intended for individual projects by arts professionals. These grants may be applied for by individuals and working groups. Applications can be submitted online using the Applyforgrants.fi service. The call for applications can be found on the service under the name of the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency.

The National Council for Music has awarded artist grants beginning in 2026. Artist grants were awarded to 46 artists.
