Calls for applications published under the new Finnish Arts and Culture Agency name
All calls for applications this autumn will be published at the end of September on the joint Applyforgrants.fi service for government grant authorities, where notices for calls for applications and application forms can be found. The calls for applications will be published under the new Finnish Arts and Culture Agency name, as decisions will be made in 2026 after the new agency has begun operations.
The website is trilingual, and all application-related information is now also available in English in addition to Finnish and Swedish. Project grants for arts professionals are also available for the first time on the Applyforgrants.fi service from 5 November to 2 December 2025.
With the transition to the new system, Taike is updating its call for applications and at the same time clarifying the objectives and evaluation criteria for applications.
Changes are also being made to the names of the types of funding available. General grants (previously operational subsidies) are intended to support the entire operations of the community. Project grants (previously special subsidies) are intended to support individual projects.
Further information and links to the calls for applications can still be found on the Taike website (www.taike.fi)), where the privacy policy of the Applyforgrants.fi service has also been updated.
The Applyforgrants.fi service still lists the Arts Promotion Centre Finland under government grant authorities, where you can find calls for applications that have closed. However, new calls for applications are not listed under the old name.
General grants for one or three years
All general grants are available for a one-year or three-year period. Communities applying for a three-year general grant must have a three-year action plan. Decisions regarding general grants for the arts and culture will be made by mid-February 2026. Decisions regarding other grants will be made by mid-March 2026.
General grants for the arts are intended for the long-term funding of professional art communities. The previous name of this form of support was operational subsidies for specific artforms.
General grants for culture are awarded to professional communities that promote cultural and social inclusion and strengthen cultural rights through their operations.
General grants for culture combine two previous forms of support: subsidies for promoting inclusion and cultural wellbeing, and subsidies for promoting cultural diversity and combating racism.
General grants for festivals are awarded to professionally organised arts and culture events.
General grants for cultural magazines and online publications are awarded to publications that foster a diverse social discussion.
New grant for internationalisation projects
Internationalisation grants for the arts are a new form of support designed to meet the objectives of Taike’s internationalisation strategy. These grants intended for art communities and are awarded to support the reciprocal development of international activities.
Project grants for culture are another new form of support. They are awarded to support projects in areas such as inclusion, children's and youth culture, cultural wellbeing and cultural diversity. These grants may also be awarded to support the development projects of communities. These grants combine two previous forms of support: special subsidies for cultural diversity and combating racism, and project grants for children's and youth culture.
Taike is also preparing to fund art projects in connection with the “Percent for Art” principle. However, the opening of this call for applications is dependent on whether the required appropriations are allocated in the government budget. Information about this call for applications will be published later.
Taike and the National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI) will merge as of 1 January 2026. The merger will not affect the evaluation or awarding processes for grants. Applications will be reviewed by Taike’s arts councils and expert panels, and decisions will be based on a presentation by a special advisor. The Finnish Arts and Culture Agency will decide on the distribution of funding between forms of support and fields of the arts at the start of 2026.
