Summer bulletin for Taike customers

Customer Service will be open for the last day before the summer break on Thursday 8 July 2021. The fifth round of COVID-19 support for the arts and culture sector is open for applications from 16 to 30 June 2021. Decisions regarding both the fifth round of COVID-19 support and artist grants will be announced by the end of August.

Fifth call for applications for COVID-19 support for the arts and culture sectors 16-30 June | News

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is distributing approximately 55 million euros in COVID-19 support to artists and professionals in the culture and creative sectors, as well as private traders and sole proprietors in the arts and culture sectors. The application period begins on 16 June and ends on 30 June at 4:00pm.

Decisions regarding the fourth round of COVID-19 support have been made. The application period ended on 15 April 2021. Due to the exceptionally high number of applications, notifications of decisions will be sent to applicants in batches.

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is distributing approximately 15 million euros in COVID-19 support to artists and cultural professionals, as well as private traders in the arts and culture sectors. The deadline for applications is 15 April 2021 at 4:00 pm.

New members appointed to Board for Grants and Subsidies to Writers and Translators

The Ministry of Education and Culture has appointed members to the Board for Grants and Subsidies to Writers and Translators for the 2024–2026 term. The new Chairperson is museum director Terhi Pietiläinen, who previously served as a member of the board. The new Deputy Chairperson is writer Joni Pyysalo.

Cuts in discretionary government grants to be negotiated at budget session in September

The Ministry of Finance has today published its draft budget for 2025. The proposal includes cuts to discretionary government grants for the arts and culture. It appears that there will be no cuts to artist grants or artist pensions.

A supplementary artist pension may be awarded as recognition of an outstanding contribution to the creative or performing arts. Supplementary artist pensions are intended to supplement the artist’s pension security.

Publishers and foreign and minority language writers will have the chance to meet at the Turku Book Fair on 4 October 2024. The programme also includes a panel discussion that will be open to the public.
