Jaakko Kuusisto appointed Deputy Chairperson of the Central Arts Council

The recently appointed Central Arts Council, the main policymaking body under the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, convened for the first time on Friday 15 February. Chairperson Tiina Rosenberg presided over the meeting, at which the nine-member council appointed musician Jaakko Kuusisto Deputy Chairperson.

Workshop on multilingualism and art 20.2.2013

Kone Foundation organizes together with the Arts Promotion Centre, a project workshop on multilingualism and art. Registration for the workshop on 20th February ends on 13th February. The workshop is related to a grant call on the same theme, which will be organized in February-March. You are warmly welcome!

Minister of Culture and Sport Paavo Arhinmäki has appointed Minna Sirnö (MA) Director of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland for a five-year term beginning on 1 March 2013.

New members appointed for regional arts councils

The Central Arts Council of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland has appointed new members for the thirteen regional arts councils for a two-year term (2013-2014). According to new legislation in Finland, the Central Arts Council appoints the chairpersons and other members of the regional arts councils. The deputy chairperson for each arts council is elected by its members.

Central Arts Council appoints national arts councils for a two-year term

The Central Arts Council of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland has appointed ten national arts councils and one subcommittee for a two-year term (2013-2014). According to new legislation in Finland, the Central Arts Council makes decisions regarding the number of national arts councils, their names and their roles. It also appoints the chairpersons and other members of the arts councils. If required, the Central Arts Council may also appoint subcommittees.

Information about artist grants

National arts councils award half-year artist grants, as well as one-year, three-year and five-year artist grants, to support the work of professional artists. Calls for applications for artist grants are announced in spring, and the grant period begins the following year.

Information about supplementary artist pensions

A supplementary artist pension may be awarded as recognition of an outstanding contribution to the creative or performing arts. Supplementary artist pensions are not available to artists whose permanent income from pensions and other sources exceeds a certain a limit. The application period for supplementary artist pensions is in September.
