Fifth COVID-19 support package for the arts and culture still under preparation

The fifth support package for the arts and culture proposed by the Government is currently being discussed in Parliament. Preparations are being made within the Ministry of Education and Culture for a new call for applications by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) as we await more specific policy guidelines.

Artists expect respect and support from municipalities, municipalities more local vitality from artists – both sides hope for more collaboration

According to the latest Arts and Culture Barometer, professional artists and local municipalities both want to increase their mutual collaboration. At present, municipal support is of little importance to artists due to its scarcity. The barometer also highlights differences between municipalities and regional inequalities in terms of artistic work experienced by many artists.

Artists believe in the future – optimism created by a strong belief in their own work, artistry and ability to influence their own future as artists

According to the latest Arts and Culture Barometer, artists have an optimistic view of the future, but concerns about their livelihoods and ability to cope are undermining their wellbeing. The findings of the barometer will be presented at a discussion forum at KokoTeatteri in Helsinki on 7 April. The forum is open to the public.

Central Arts Council appeals to Prime Minister Sanna Marin: do not cut funding for culture

The Central Arts Council of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) calls on Prime Minister Sanna Marin to save the culture budget. A parliamentary agreement has been reached on sectors funded by revenues from the state-owned gambling monopoly Veikkaus, such as culture, from 2024 onwards. The size of the culture budget for 2023 will be negotiated in a framework meeting of the Government.

Seventh call for applications for COVID-19 grants and subsidies: 4–17 February 2022

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is distributing approximately 34 million euros in the latest round of COVID-19 grants and subsidies to professional artists, private traders and sole proprietors in the art, culture and creative sectors. The application period begins on 4 February and ends on 17 February at 4:00pm.

The aim of ARSPRO Artists Meet Producers Event is to offer a possibility for creative professional contacts between artists, art educators and cultural producers. The program of the event consists of short presentations of program proposals offered by artists and art educators for cultural centers and events.

Appointments made to Central Arts Council

Minister of Culture and Sport Paavo Arhinmäki has appointed the chairperson and members of the Central Arts Council for the term 1 January 2013 to 31 August 2016. Tiina Rosenberg (Helsinki), Rector of the University of the Arts Helsinki, has been appointment Chairperson of the new Central Arts Council.

Open call for Artist as Art workshop participants

Six artists based in Varsinais-Suomi are given the opportunity to develop a new performance work under the guidance of artist Joshua Sofaer. The results of the workshop will be presented in the opening night of New Performance Turku Festival. The international festival for new performance and Live Art takes place in Turku from 13th to 16th June 2013.

Arts Promotion Centre Finland moves to new address in Helsinki

The main office of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland will move at the beginning of February to a new address in Helsinki. The new visiting address is Vuorikatu 24. The office of the Arts Council of Uusimaa and the Uusimaa regional artists will also move to the new address.

Workshop on Multilingualism and art 7.2.

Kone Foundation organizes together with Arts Promotion Centre Finland, a project workshop on multilingualism and art. The workshop is related to a grant call on the same theme, which will be organized in February-March by Kone Foundation. The event will be held on Thursday, February 7th, 2013 at 13-16 at Kone Foundation office in Helsinki.
