Taike has approximately 80 employees. Approximately half of these are administrative staff (civil servants) and half are art experts, artist experts and regional artists on fixed-term employment contracts. The head office of Taike is in Helsinki, and it also has regional offices.

During 2020–2022, Taike distributed a total of 130 million euros in COVID-19 support to artists, professionals in the creative sectors, private traders and sole proprietors, and art associations. Altogether there were seven application rounds. More than 43,000 applications were received in total, and more than 25,000 applicants received positive decisions. Overall, 58% of applicants received funding.

The art of visual artist Rainer Paananen is characterised by a desire to try new things. Supported by a project grant for photographic art, he designed and built an experimental string instrument.

The goal of Taike’s development programmes is to promote the status and working conditions of artists and to enhance the impact of art in society. These goals are implemented in projects in which Taike’s regional artists, special advisors and art experts play a central role.

Eikka Alatalo creates ecological circus art against bullying. His Motör Circus show combines circus art and a musical hobby that he started in his childhood.

The Director is appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture for a term of five years.
