The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) has awarded a total of 500,000 euros to art projects based on the “Percent for Art” principle. The grants were distributed geographically across Finland, from Loviisa to Kittilä.

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) will be hosting an English-language webinar on grant structures for the arts in Finland on Wednesday 5 March from 1pm to 2pm. The webinar will discuss the nature of these grants, decision-making, application types, and the evaluation process. In addition, the webinar will separately discuss the special characteristics of Taike grants as part of the overall funding of the arts in Finland.

Work on preparing the legal amendments concerning the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and its arts councils is progressing on the basis of the consultation round that concluded in January. Taike will begin internal preparations regarding the restructuring of its arts council during March. The opinions submitted on the draft legislation raised concerns related to the autonomy of the arts, peer reviews and regional equality. The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) has decided on supplementary artist pensions starting in early 2025. Supplementary artist pensions are intended to supplement the artist’s pension security. The number of applications has increased in recent years. For the first time, less than 8 percent of applicants will receive a supplementary artist pension.

The National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI) and the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) are preparing to merge to form a new agency as of the beginning of 2026. The change is part of the Education and Culture Administration 2030 reform project.
