New internal organisation for Taike as of August

The organisational structure of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) will be renewed as of 1 August 2025. The aim is to respond more strongly to the tasks defined in Taike’s strategy guidelines and legislation. The current area of responsibility for arts promotion will be divided into two units: Arts and Culture Funding, and Arts and Culture Networks.

The purpose of the restructuring is to respond to the changes that have already occurred and those that can be expected, both in society at large and in the field of the arts and state administration. There is a need, among other things, for flexible expertise, a comprehensive review of livelihoods and funding in the arts, a stronger social impact and multi-administrative collaboration. The restructuring aims to create a strong organisation as part of the Arts and Culture Agency Finland, which will begin operations on 1 January 2026.

The Arts and Culture Funding unit will help create the conditions for creating art and the work of artists by distributing government grants and planning and developing funding and livelihoods for the arts and culture actors in the free sector. The unit will develop the business activities and fundraising of the creative economy within the scope of the agency's tasks. The unit will also include the Creative Net coordination project.

This unit will have two groups:

  • Government grant activities
  • Creative industry and livelihoods

The Arts and Culture Networks unit will promote the status of the arts and culture within society and multi-administrative structures. Its task is to promote the nationwide availability and accessibility of the arts and culture, as well as the inclusion of Finns in the arts and culture. The unit’s work is based on forming a strategic overall picture of the nationwide nature, multi-administrative structures and regional networks of the arts and culture. The unit will also contain Taike’s current expert services for art, health and wellbeing, public art and municipal cultural activities.

This unit will have two groups:

  • Regionality
  • Inclusion

The restructuring will not cause any significant changes to the job descriptions of Taike employees. Change negotiations were held regarding the organisational changes, in which a consensus was reached between the employer and employee representatives. The restructuring will not involve any layoffs.
