Central Arts Council supports the implementation of the Youth Guarantee through art – special subsidy available from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland and its expert body the Central Arts Council are awarding a special subsidy for projects that develop the implementation of the Youth Guarantee through art. The project can be a pilot project resulting in an operating model for further development.

“The special subsidy is intended for projects aimed at the employment of professional artists and youth participation by means of art. We also hope to foster cooperation between the field of the arts and other parties implementing the Youth Guarantee,” explains Tiina Rosenberg, Chair of the Central Arts Council.

“Artists, artist groups and art organisations will then be able to further develop the resulting models in their own projects and even attract EU funding for them,” Rosenberg envisions.

The one-time special subsidy is intended for legally competent organisations, such as associations, foundations, cooperatives and companies. A total amount of 30,000 euros shall be awarded. The special subsidy is funded by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland together with the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. The Central Arts Council shall award the special subsidy to 1-3 projects. The application period is from 15 October to 5 November 2013.

The Youth Guarantee is one of the key initiatives of Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen’s Government, which expects rapid results to improve the situation among young people. The Youth Guarantee requires that each person under the age of 25 and each recent graduate under the age of 30 be offered work, a traineeship, or a study, workshop or labour market rehabilitation place within three months of becoming unemployed.
