Auri Ahola

I am a Regional Artist who works with Sámi culture. My job description is diverse and covers collaborative art projects, events and planning work, but also leading working groups, employing artists and doing expert work in the field of Sámi culture and the performing arts.

My work is based on supporting and highlighting Sámi culture. The means and methods vary tremendously: one day I am photographing a portrait of a Sámi artist in a fell, the next I am giving a talk on a ministry webinar.

My work is project-based, and I collaborate with individual Sámi artists and cultural institutions, such as the Sámi Parliament of Finland, the Skolt Sámi Cultural Foundation, the Sámi Youth Cultural Centre Mánnu and the Saami Council. My activities are focused on the Sámi region, and I work in my hometown of Inari.

My working languages are Inari Sámi and Finnish.
