Nomination of candidates for arts councils underway

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland requests candidates for national and regional arts councils to be nominated by 29 August. The Central Arts Council shall appoint the members for the 2015-16 term in the autumn.

Arts Promotion Centre Finland to begin employer-employee negotiations

Statutory co-operation negotiations between employer and employee representatives shall begin on 13 June and should be completed during August. The negotiations will apply to all full-time employees within the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.

That’s art! - Come and realise a project in which the miracle of art is present

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland and its expert body, the Central Arts Council, will award a special grant for planning and implementing a campaign that enhances the visibility, appreciation and role of art in society. The campaign is to be realised using social media and possibly other media channels, and it must be carried out by means of art.

Change to application deadlines as of April 2015

As of April 2015, applications must be received by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland no later than 4:00pm on the last day of the application period. It is no longer sufficient that applications be postmarked on the last day. The change is due to a new online service that is being introduced for submitting applications. The deadline for submitting applications online is also 4.00pm.

Artists who have immigrated to Finland are not marginalised by the Finnish support system for the arts. Nevertheless, there is still room for improvement before they are included in the mainstream.

Welcome to Global Pasts, Local Presents seminar

The seminar presents the cases of The City Ghettos of Today, an artist-run interdisciplinary project in seven European cities. All the people interested in the themes of cultural diversity, community art, European collaboration through arts and interdisciplinary work between researchers and artists are welcome.

Arts Promotion Centre Finland to discontinue separate grants and subsidies for international projects

As of 2015 the Arts Promotion Centre Finland will no longer award separate grants and subsidies for international projects promoting cultural cooperation, exports and exchanges. Instead, these funds shall be included in grants and subsidies for travel and residencies.

European ghetto-installation will be constructed to Stoa in September

The City Ghettos of Today is a unique artistic initiative exploring the concept of ‘ghetto’ in 7 European cities. The activities of the project will take place in Helsinki between 8.9. and 20.9. These include a transforming installation that will form its contents in multidisciplinary workshops collaboratively with an international team of artists and local participants, a seminar that presents the cases of the project in the different cities, a series of workshops and public interview-discussions and two public performances related to the collectively built installation.

Arts Promotion Centre Finland moves to new address in Helsinki

The main office of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland will move at the beginning of February to a new address in Helsinki. The new visiting address is Vuorikatu 24. The office of the Arts Council of Uusimaa and the Uusimaa regional artists will also move to the new address.

Workshop on Multilingualism and art 7.2.

Kone Foundation organizes together with Arts Promotion Centre Finland, a project workshop on multilingualism and art. The workshop is related to a grant call on the same theme, which will be organized in February-March by Kone Foundation. The event will be held on Thursday, February 7th, 2013 at 13-16 at Kone Foundation office in Helsinki.
