Project grants are intended for professional artists and working groups formed by them for individual projects. Private traders may also apply.

Changes have been made to calls for applications for grants. Grants for mobility are being offered for the last time; in future, support for internationalisation and foreign travel can be applied for in the form of project grants. As a result of the change, applications will be reviewed within individual arts councils. Changes have also been made regarding applications for grants for multidisciplinary art projects.

The Annual Review of Public Art provides still images of how public art and the structures behind it are changing. The Annual Review seeks to address the themes, debates, hopes and sorrows that have revolved around public art in 2020.

The Ministry of Education and Culture has introduced the Education and Culture Administration 2030 reform project, which aims to merge agencies. The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and the National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI) would merge to form the Culture Agency of Finland (Kulttuurivirasto) at the beginning of 2026. At the same time, the structure of the arts councils would change. The consultation round on the draft legislation is open until 31 January 2025. Taike will organise an open webinar on the draft legislation on 15 January 2025.

Public display grants are intended for professional artists in the fields of the visual arts, whose works may be displayed publicly. The application period for public display grants is in January.

This year, three-year operational subsidies can be applied for within all artforms, whereas in previous years they have been offered only to performing arts communities.

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is transferring some calls for applications for support intended for communities to Applyforgrants.fi, the new joint online service of government grant authorities.

Publishers and foreign and minority language writers will have the chance to meet at the Turku Book Fair on 4 October 2024. The programme also includes a panel discussion that will be open to the public.
