Grant info: Overview of Taike’s grants for communities

Taike will be holding an English-language webinar on Tuesday 14 October from 4pm to 5pm to discuss this autumn’s calls for applications for grants available to communities. The webinar will explain the changes that have been made to this year’s calls for applications and provide tips on how to apply.

Artist grants awarded to 303 artists

The national arts councils of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) have awarded artist grants beginning at the start of 2026. The length of grant terms varies from half a year to five years. A total of 3766 applications were received, and eight percent of applicants were awarded a grant. The number of applications decreased slightly for the second year in a row.

Finnish Arts and Culture Agency begins operations

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and the National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI) have merged at the start of the year to form the new Finnish Arts and Culture Agency. The new agency carries out tasks related to the promotion of the arts and culture, media education and a safe media environment, as well as archiving and promoting knowledge of audiovisual culture. The merger will not result in any changes to services, although some contact information may change.

Restructuring of arts councils: Status report on preparations

The system of peer reviews for the arts will be renewed on 1 July 2026, and the arts councils that have thus far made grant decisions will be discontinued. They will be replaced by the Council of Arts and Culture, a pool of experts and rotating grant assessment panels. Finnish Arts and Culture Agency distributes 15 million euros in general grants to communities

The Finnish Arts and Culture Agency has decided on the awarding of general grants for the arts and culture to communities in 2026. General grants have been awarded to 214 applicants, which is slightly fewer than last year. These grants have been distributed widely across different fields of the arts and across different parts of Finland. They support the work of professionals, long-term activities, the renewal of the arts sector and the availability of art.
