Illustrations and Comics
Finnish illustrations and comics have a long professional history behind them. Finnish comic art celebrated its hundredth anniversary in 2011.
Nevertheless, these artforms are still relatively new to the Finnish arts promotion system. In 2013, the first State Prize for Comic Art was awarded and funds from the state were allocated specifically for comic art.
The Arts Promotion Centre Finland and National Council for Visual Arts support illustrations and comics by awarding grants to artists and subsidies to communities.
