Creative and Cultural Innovation Expertise ESF+ funding decisions to be made by the end of the year

The first call for applications for projects within the national Creative and Cultural Innovation Expertise ESF+ theme was open from 15 March to 15 May 2023. The processing of applications is ongoing, and the ELY Centre for Häme will decide on projects to be funded during November-December.

The first call for projects attracted 81 applications, and more than 20 million euros was applied for. Approximately 6 million euros has been allocated in the first application around. The total amount of funding for the Creative and Cultural Innovation Expertise theme during the 2021–2027 programme period is 13.6 million euros. The ELY Centre for Häme serves as the funding authority for the theme.

“Many new applicants responded to the call for applications. A broader field of actors in the arts and culture sector and the creative industries were encouraged to apply compared to previous programmes,” says Minna Taipale, Financing Specialist at the ELY Centre for Häme.

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland’s Creative Net project (ESF+) has provided information, workshops and sparring for applicants. The aim is to help and encourage professionals in the creative industries to apply for ESF+ funding.

“We have especially supported those actors in the arts, culture and creative industries who do not necessarily have previous experience with ESF+ projects. Once the funding decisions have been made, we will continue working with the funded projects. We will also continue to spar with actors for the next round of national and regional ESF+ applications,” says Sofia-Charlotta Kakko, Project Manager for Creative Net.

The processing of applications will continue this autumn, and the second evaluation round is currently underway. The Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment have already delivered expert opinions on the applications.

The leadership team of the national Creative and Cultural Innovation Expertise ESF+ theme will process the selection proposals in October. The ELY Centre for Häme will then make its final selections during November-December.

The dates of the next application round will be decided based on the results of the first round.
