Project grants awarded by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) in different artforms can be applied for this month, 1–30 November. A few changes have been made to the call for applications for project grants compared to last year. Artists can apply for a project grant with one application only and for one project only. Taike has also provided new guidelines regarding the amount of work covered by a project grant.

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is looking to hire an Internationalisation Expert on a fixed-term basis for the period 1 January 2024 to 30 June 2025. The Internationalisation Expert will coordinate and prepare the strategy process of the agency’s international activities.

On 14 May, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) organised an info briefing on the priorities and future development needs of subsidies for communities. The key takeaways from the info briefing are summarised below.

This spring, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) have continued preparing for the restructuring of Taike’s arts councils. The background to the restructuring is the external evaluation of Taike (Agency Taking Shape) published in 2021, the related hearings and the opinion rounds held in autumn 2023.

In February, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) requested nominations for candidates to its national and regional arts councils for the 2025–2026 term from significant actors in the arts sector. The deadline for nominations was 31 May 2024.

During the spring, it has been possible to apply for artist grants and regional grants from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike). Grant decisions will be sent to applicants at slightly different times depending on the processing schedules of the different arts councils.

Suomen Yrittäjät – the Federation of Finnish Enterprises and the Creative Net project of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) are organising the Eloon! tour, which brings together actors from traditional business sectors with representatives of the arts, culture and the creative industries. The Central Arts Council has appointed the national arts councils and regional arts councils operating under the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) for the 2025–2026 term. The 20 arts councils have 174 members in total. The main task of the arts councils is to decide on the awarding of grants and prizes. Members of the arts councils are artists and art experts, and their work is based on the principle of peer reviews.
