Call for applications for project grants for the arts opens 5 November 2025 under the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency name on the Applyforgrants.fi Service

Project grants for the arts can be applied for from 5 November to 3 December 2025. These grants are intended for individual projects by arts professionals during 2026-2027. The call for applications can be found on the Applyforgrants.fi service under the new Finnish Arts and Culture Agency name.

ESF+ projects selected within Creative and Cultural Innovation Expertise theme after second application round

Funding within the Creative and Cultural Innovation Expertise ESF+ theme has been awarded to 14 projects after the second application round. The selected projects promote themes in areas such as music, events, the performing arts, design, museums, sustainable development and cultural wellbeing.

Appropriations for government grants promoting the arts and culture to decrease in 2026

In December, Parliament decided on appropriations for 2026. Appropriations for artist grants will remain unchanged, but cuts will be made to non-statutory appropriations for the arts and culture.

Finnish Arts and Culture Agency launches appointment process for Pool of Experts on 16 March

The Finnish Arts and Culture Agency is launching the first round of nominations for its new Pool of Experts on 16 March 2026. The Pool of Experts will replace the current national and regional arts councils. Members of the Pool of Experts will serve a term of three years, beginning in September 2026.

Changes to November’s call for applications for project grants

Project grants awarded by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) in different artforms can be applied for this month, 1–30 November. A few changes have been made to the call for applications for project grants compared to last year. Artists can apply for a project grant with one application only and for one project only. Taike has also provided new guidelines regarding the amount of work covered by a project grant.

Call for projects within Creative and Cultural Innovation Expertise ESF+ theme attracts 81 applications

The call for projects within the Creative and Cultural Innovation Expertise ESF+ theme ended on 15 May 2023. Many new projects within the creative sectors participated in the first call for applications. Altogether, 6 million euros has been allocated for the selected projects.

Henri Terho to serve as Director of Taike from 1 June to 31 July 2023

The Ministry of Education and Culture has appointed Henri Terho Director of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) for June and July. Terho is currently Head of Arts Support at Taike. Kaisa Rönkkö will take over as Director on 1 August 2023.

Schedule for decisions and summer opening hours for customer service

Decisions on special subsidies for cultural activities in sparsely populated rural areas and most artist grant decisions will be sent to applicants by the end of June. Taike’s customer service will be closed 30 June to 31 July.

The head office of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) in Helsinki has moved from Hakaniemi to Sörnäinen as of 17 November 2025. The new address is Kaikukatu 2 C.

Arts and culture professionals gather in Oulu to discuss cultural diversity themes

On Tuesday 7 October 2025, arts and culture professionals from the Nordic region, the Baltics and across Europe gathered at Oulu City Hall to attend the Nordic Diversity Connections in Arts and Culture Seminar. The event addressed contemporary issues of cultural diversity, inclusion and equality in the arts and culture sector.
