Fourth call for applications for COVID-19 support for the arts and culture sectors beginning 29 March

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is distributing approximately 15 million euros in COVID-19 support to artists and cultural professionals, as well as private traders in the arts and culture sectors. The deadline for applications is 15 April 2021 at 4:00 pm.

Project grant and special subsidy decisions by 10 March

The majority of project grant and special subsidy decisions will be sent to applicants by 28 February, as originally announced. However, due to an increase in the number of applications, some decisions may be slightly delayed. All decisions will be sent by 10 March at the latest. We apologise for any delay!

Taike decides on distribution of appropriations among different forms of support for 2024

Appropriations from the state budget to the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) have been cut by a total of 1.3 million euros for 2024. When deciding on the distribution of appropriations, Taike has evaluated the situation in different fields of the arts and forms of support based on changes to the number of applications and an overall assessment of the need for state support.

Taike to organise six regional events this spring to discuss cultural policy report

The purpose of the latest cultural policy report is to create an ambitious vision for the long-term development of Finland's arts and cultural policy. The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and the Ministry of Education and Culture are organising six regional events this spring to discuss the arts, cultural policy and the recently published report. These events will offer an opportunity to hear the thoughts of experts and professionals representing different sectors of society about the current state and future of the arts and culture in Finland.

Maria Pirkkalainen-Barber begins work as Internationalisation Expert

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) has appointed Maria Pirkkalainen-Barber as Internationalisation Expert. Her job is to coordinate and prepare the agency’s strategy for international activities. The position is new and continues until the end of June 2025.

Taike to submit information about applications and decisions to Tutkiavustuksia.fi

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) will submit summarised information about decisions for all calls for applications announced since 1 October to the joint Tutkiavustuksia.fi service. For subsidies to communities, both positive and negative subsidy decisions will be published on the website. For grants to artists, only positive grant decisions will be published.

State budget proposal for 2024 proposes 5 percent cut to Taike grants and subsidies

Finland’s state budget proposal for 2024 has been published. Cuts of around 5 percent have been proposed for Taike grants and subsidies compared to the amount allocated in 2023. The cuts do not apply to Taike’s legally mandated forms of support, for which index increases are proposed.

Creative Net coordination project

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is coordinating projects in the creative and culture sectors within the scope of the Innovation and Skills in Finland 2021−2027 programme. The Creative Net project supports practical projects under the Creative and Cultural Innovation Expertise theme by sharing the good practices of their operating models, services and products, as well as embedding the results.

Kemiönsaari Lab workshops for artists to begin

In spring 2024, Taike is organising a series of workshops in Kemiönsaari aimed at increasing the production skills of artists. These free-of-charge workshops will be held at Kulturhus Björkboda and are primarily intended for local artists. In addition, artists will have the opportunity to participate in the pitching webinar in April.

Taike accepts proposals for members of arts councils

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is currently accepting nominations for candidates to its national and regional arts councils for the next two-year term, which begins on 1 January 2025. The deadline for nominations is 31 May 2024.

Minister of Culture and Sport Paavo Arhinmäki has appointed Minna Sirnö (MA) Director of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland for a five-year term beginning on 1 March 2013.
