Info briefing on restructuring of Taike’s arts councils

Restructuring of Taike and arts councils approved by Parliament

The government proposal on legislation on the reform of the administrative branch of the Ministry of Education and Culture has been approved today by Parliament. According to the draft legislation, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and the National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI) will merge to form the Arts and Culture Agency Finland at the beginning of 2026. At the same time, the peer review structure will change.

Decisions on artist grants and regional grants to be sent out in batches

Calls for applications for artist grants and regional grants were open in March 2025. These grant decisions will be sent to applicants in the order that the arts councils make their decisions.

Info briefing on MYEL insurance for Taike’s grant recipients

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and Mela, the Farmers' Social Insurance Institution of Finland, are organising an online info briefing on pension and accident insurance, a legal obligation for recipients of working grants that are awarded for a period of four months or more.

New internal organisation for Taike as of August

The organisational structure of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) will be renewed as of 1 August 2025. The aim is to respond more strongly to the tasks defined in Taike’s strategy guidelines and legislation. The current area of responsibility for arts promotion will be divided into two units: Arts and Culture Funding, and Arts and Culture Networks.

Calls for applications for Taike’s government grants for communities open on 1 October under the new Finnish Arts and Culture Agency name on the Applyforgrants.fi service

Funding for communities awarded by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) can be applied for from 1 October to 4 November 2025. Several changes have been made this year, including to the names of the calls for applications and the agency itself. New forms of support have been introduced, while others have been discontinued. All calls for applications this autumn can be found on the Applyforgrants.fi service under the new Finnish Arts and Culture Agency name.

On Tuesday 5 November at 10am, Taike is organising a one-hour info briefing for professional artists and working groups about this autumn’s call for applications for project grants. The online webinar will discuss basic principles and provide tips on how to apply.

Info briefings for communities 1

This October, Taike is organising one-hour info briefings for communities applying for grants and subsidies. There will be two of these online webinars for the different forms of support. The first webinar will discuss the following types of subsidies: subsidies for promoting cultural diversity and combating racism, subsidies for promoting inclusion and cultural wellbeing, special subsidies for communities, and operational subsidies for specific artforms.

Changes to regional grants and artist grants

Regional grants and artist grants awarded by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) can be applied for during the period 1 March – 3 April 2024. A few changes have been made to these grants compared to last year. Artists can now apply for a regional grant to cover work and expenses using the same application. Regional grants can be applied for from one region and with one application only. For artist grants, it is no longer possible to apply for a ten-year Artist Professor grant.

Webinar in Finnish to inform about Taike grants for individuals and working groups

Taike will host a webinar in Finnish covering this autumn’s grant applications on Wednesday 4 October from 2pm to 3:30pm. The webinar will go through which grants individuals and working groups can apply for and offer tips on how to apply.
