Taike supports

We fund the arts and culture through grants for artists and communities. Grants for artists are awarded to individuals and working groups, while grants for communities are awarded to registered communities. Grants can be applied using the Applyforgrants.fi service under the new Finnish Arts and Culture Agency name.

Arts and Culture Barometer: Funding and support for artistic work do not correspond to actual needs

The theme of the latest Arts and Culture Barometer was funding and support for artistic work. The results of the barometer indicate uncertainties related to funding the work of professional artists. According to the respondents, income generation for artists is often fragmented among several different sources, and funding for artistic work does not correspond to actual needs. As changes and cuts are being made simultaneously to several factors related to funding and income levels, the impacts on making art and the livelihoods of artists can be profound and unpredictable, according to the results of the barometer.

Public Art

Taike’s public art team supports public and private actors and artists in funding and implementing public art projects. Our goal is to strengthen the share of art projects in the development of the built environment and a commitment to the “Percent for Art” principle.

New short film Bálggis follows the young generation of Sámi artists

Bálggis is a portrait of three Sámi artists representing marginal artforms. The short documentary features circus artist Aleksi Niittyvuopio, graffiti artist Sámi Hustler and comic artist Sunna Kitti. The film was directed by Auri Ahola, Regional Artist for Sámi Culture, and produced by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
