Grants for communities

Taike grants are intended for professional activities. Grants are awarded either as general grants for ongoing operations or as project grants for specific projects. Taike grants can be applied for using the Applyforgrants.fi service under the new Finnish Arts and Culture Agency name.

Organisation

Taike has approximately 80 employees. Approximately half of these are administrative staff (civil servants) and half are art experts and artist experts on fixed-term employment contracts. The head office of Taike is in Helsinki, and it also has regional offices.

First ESF+ funding round concluded in 2023 – what next?

Higher education institutions were strongly represented in the first call for applications for projects within the Creative and Cultural Innovation Expertise ESF+ theme, and many smaller actors were left without funding. Smaller actors should definitely apply for funding in the next round, but at the same time it is important to invest even more in collaboration, writes Sofia-Charlotta Kakko.

Restructuring of arts councils

Taike’s arts councils are being restructured, and the current arts councils be discontinued as of 1 July 2026. The new structure will have a Council of Arts and Culture utilising a pool of experts and rotating grant assessment panels to assess applications. The principles of peer reviews and the autonomy of art will be maintained in decision-making. Stakeholders and the entire arts sector are being consulted extensively in the restructuring work.

Taike and Kavi prepare for merger

The National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI) and the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) are preparing to merge to form a new agency as of the beginning of 2026. The change is part of the Education and Culture Administration 2030 reform project.

Taike adopts principles of EU state aid regulations: de minimis aid and the General Block Exemption Regulation

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) has adopted the decisions regarding the de minimis principle and the General Block Exemption Regulation, which form part of the European Union's state aid regulations, in subsidies for communities that can be applied for in autumn 2024.

Taike comprises 23 expert bodies that decide on the awarding of grants and prizes, as well as provide expert opinions.

This development programme aims to make new ways of applying artistic expertise visible and to provide access to artists' expertise as broadly as possible within society.

Taike supports

We fund the arts and culture through grants for artists and communities. Grants for artists are awarded to individuals and working groups, while grants for communities are awarded to registered communities. Grants can be applied using the Applyforgrants.fi service under the new Finnish Arts and Culture Agency name.
