The Arts Council of Uusimaa justified the award as follows:

The Arts Council of Uusimaa would like to award NO NIIN Magazine for its way of identifying and highlighting voices from fields of the art that are often overlooked or judged to be marginal.

NO NIIN Magazine has rapidly become an important platform for art journalism and the discussion about the arts and culture. It was founded in Helsinki in 2021, and since then it has been presenting ambitious, carefully selected and meaningful journalism. Some of its activities have even been broken boundaries, for example when it weighed the existence of genuine dialogue in the Finnish arts sector. NO NIIN Magazine renewed our way of thinking towards hope, the liberation of discussion, feminism, internationalism and anti-colonialism.

Founded by artists Elham Rahmati and Vidha Saumya, NO NIIN Magazine brings together artists, curators and other art experts in a way that provides insight into the best Finnish and international operating models. The publication attempts to define what ‘global’ means in art.

The Arts Council of Uusimaa is an expert body of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) that decides on grants and art prizes for its region. The Regional Art Prize is awarded to an artist, artist group or artist community that has promoted the visibility and status of the arts in their own region and promoted dialogue and interest in the arts.
